Key Changes to Highlight (confirmed as of current date):
- Aadhaar Mandatory for New PAN Applications: From July 1st, Aadhaar verification becomes mandatory for applying for a new PAN card.
- ITR Filing Deadline Extension (AY 2025-26): The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns for Assessment Year 2025-26 (for FY 2024-25 income) has been extended from July 31st, 2025, to September 15th, 2025. (Crucial relief for many!)
- New Bank Charges (SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank): Several major banks are implementing revised charges on various services, including:
- Credit Card Charges: HDFC Bank (1% fee on rent, wallet reloads, gaming spends above certain limits), SBI Card (discontinuation of some complimentary air accident insurance, revised Minimum Amount Due calculation). Kotak Myntra Card replaced.
- ATM Charges: ICICI Bank and Axis Bank (increased fees for transactions beyond free limits).
- Demand Draft (DD) and Pay Order (PO) Charges: ICICI Bank revised fees.
- IMPS Charges: ICICI Bank revised fees.
- Debit Card Annual Fees: ICICI Bank revised fees.
- Cash Transaction Limits & Charges: ICICI Bank (fees after free branch/CRM uses).
- Tatkal Ticket Booking Rules (Indian Railways):
- Aadhaar Mandatory for Online Tatkal Bookings: From July 1st, only Aadhaar-verified IRCTC accounts can book Tatkal e-tickets online.
- (Note for Mid-July): From July 15th, OTP verification will be required for all Tatkal bookings (online and counter). Agents will also have booking restrictions during the first 30 minutes.
- UPI Chargeback Rules: NPCI has changed UPI chargeback rules to simplify the process.
- GST Return Filing Rules: GSTR-3B becomes non-editable from July 2025. Taxpayers cannot file GST returns after 3 years from the due date.
